Slice of Life 2020: 10 of 31- No Push-ups For Me

March is for daily slicing, and all are welcome! Join us at Two Writing Teachers!

By the time I got my pajamas on, I could barely pull them on. I was that tired. For two straight days--possibly two hundred-- we had been moving. Lifting boxes, lifting more boxes, hoisting furniture, hoisting more furniture. We had movers coming in the morning to move the big things, but there were plenty of small ones. (I'd even argue that there were some small things that were pretty big!)

In any case, I got my pj's on and headed into the bathroom to brush my teeth, and there, on the floor, was my husband doing push-ups. What?!?!? (I might have said something stronger than that.)

I am sometimes in awe of his energy. Maybe I'll feel like doing a push-up in about a week, but right now, even that feels like a long shot. Tomorrow, there will be more boxes. (And work... And slicing...) Nope. No push-ups for me!

  1. I'm in awe of anyone who voluntarily does push-ups...it's my least favorite thing to do in my Body Pump class at the gym. I'm willing to bet that you probably worked out all of the muscles in your arms lifting boxes though. Good luck with the moving and the unpacking!

  2. Love the idea of two days possibly feeling like 200. Good luck with the move...those are always so fun and never tiring, nope not at all.

  3. The move sounds exciting, the exhaustion ... not so much! Sounds like you already got a great workout in, nothing better than accomplishing two things at once. Enjoy your move and the great workout that came along with it!

  4. Haha... I can hear you as you enter the bathroom. He is full of energy and pride about this new house! Can't wait to see you and it Friday. (PS we will go to sleep early- you are going to be even more tired!)

  5. What a great slice. I love how you take something so 'everyday' and turn into a strong piece of writing.
I am SURE I would have had stronger words as well!!

  6. Even thinking about push-ups exhausts me. I can’t imagine doing them after a full day of moving.

  7. Yay for the move!! Good thing you didn't come into my classroom today. I somehow got roped into a push-up competition. I did not win.

  8. Hahaha! What is your husband thinking?? My husband has way more energy than I do too. There is no WAY I'd be doing pushups or really doing anything except whimpering with a move. So much work!!

  9. I couldn't do a push up at the end of the day and I haven't moved anything but a basket of laundry...always lifting laundry. So happy for you and your family on your new house.

  10. Moving is one of those major stressful live events, and add in the physical stress, you are to be congratulated for getting through it and still be in one piece. Pushups are hard no matter how rested you are. And you still have unpacking to do! Good luck and hope you enjoy your new home.
